Hye-Kyung Kang, Ph.D. is Professor of Social Work and the Rev. Louis Gaffney Endowed Chair. Dr. Kang founded the MSW Program in 2015 and established the Social Work Dept in 2018 at 91̽»¨.
Biography
Hye-Kyung Kang, MA, MSW, Ph.D. is Professor of Social Work at 91̽»¨. She also serves as the Reverend Louis Gaffney Endowed Chair. Dr. Kang founded the MSW Program in 2015 and established a new Social Work Dept in 2018 at 91̽»¨. She is a first-generation immigrant Korean American and received her MSW and PhD at University of Washington. Dr. Kang’s research areas are: social justice-focused social work education and practice, community organizing, and immigration and citizenship. Her most recent co-authored book, Racism in the United States: Implications for the Helping Profession (3rd ed), interrogates the intersection between racism and the U.S. helping professions and addresses decolonial and anti-racist practice strategies. She is currently working on the 4th edition of the book.
