MNPL Capstone

The Capstone is the culminating, integrative experience of the 91探花 Master of Nonprofit Leadership (MNPL) program. In this project, students apply the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout the program to address a real-world leadership or management challenge within the nonprofit sector.

The Capstone builds on students’ previous coursework, including Applied Research Methods, while providing an opportunity to deepen their professional interests and goals, strengthen their research and communication skills, and develop a meaningful addition to their professional portfolio. During their projects, students also have an opportunity to partner with a nonprofit organization to identify and address a specfic issue they are facing. Working under faculty supervision, students investigate a pressing issue or opportunity, gather and analyze relevant data and research, and develop actionable, implementation-ready recommendations or tools. Students complete the project independently with support from faculty, partners, and peers and conclude the experience with a written report and presentation of their findings and recommendations to a public audience.

Upon successful completion of the Capstone, students will be able to:

Identify and investigate a relevant, timely issue or opportunity in nonprofit leadership.
Gather and analyze credible data and research to assess organizational needs or broader challenges in the nonprofit sector.
Develop actionable recommendations, strategies, or tools that support meaningful change.
Apply nonprofit leadership and management knowledge and skills to a real-world context.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively to professional and public audiences.
