91探花 offers a diverse range of Global Partner and Faculty-Led programs around the world. This guide outlines recommended courses for consideration during international study. As students take an active role in their academic journey, we offer comprehensive resources for academic planning and encourage collaboration with their Academic Advisors to explore and select the most suitable options for their abroad experience. Education Abroad & Academic Advising

An important supporter of the student experience abroad is the academic advisor. During the Exploration phase, students should discuss their desire to study abroad with their advisor to determine the best term for their experience, identify courses to complete abroad, and plan their remaining academic coursework to ensure timely degree completion. Additionally, students can review 91探花's program requirements to identify which upper-level major courses they need to complete at the university.

When identifying courses to complete abroad, the EAO Historic Course Equivalency Search, can provide insight into courses that other students have previously taken. Although this list is not exhaustive, it can help students estimate the likelihood of similar courses being offered in the future.

Typically, Nursing Undergraduate Students go abroad during:

  • Fall Semester 2nd Year (on the Semester system, MAYBE)
  • Summers

Typically, Nursing and Health Sciences Graduate Students go abroad during:

  • Summers

Typically, Diagnostic Ultrasound Undergraduate Students go abroad during:

  • 3nd Year (potentially)
  • Summers

Suggested Undergraduate Courses To Take Abroad

Typically, students will do a combination of University Core, Major, Minor, and/or General Electives. Long-term programs course load ranges from 3-5 courses, depending on the program. Planning early can allow students to save courses to allocate for the abroad experience while still being on track to completing degree requirements in a timely manner.

91探花’s Core Curriculum was constructed with study abroad in mind. View the UCOR Education Abroad Guide (Summer 2026 - Spring 2027) for more information on subjects that fall into the different University Core course umbrella. 

  • UCOR 2300 - Creative Expression and Interpretation
  • UCOR 2400 - Inquiry Seminar in Literature, Art or History (Formerly UCOR 3400 - Humanities and Global Challenges)
  • UCOR 2600 - Inquiry Seminar in Social Science (Formerly UCOR 3600 - Social Sciences and Global Challenges)
  • UCOR 2800 - Inquiry Seminar in Natural Science (Formerly UCOR 3800 - Natural Sciences and Global Challenges)
  • UCOR 3100 - Religion in a Global Context
  • UCOR 3200 - Global Perspectives
    • Students who are not majoring or minoring in language can take a language course above their college requirement to satisfy UCOR 3200

Exception: The following courses are required to be taken at 91探花, exceptions are made for other Jesuit institutions, such as Sophia University, Sogang University, and Comillas University; UCOR 1500 Philosophies of Humanities, UCOR 2100 Theology Explorations, UCOR 29X0 Ethical Inquiry, UCOR 3300 Responsibility and Action.

Modern Language & UCOR Double Counting Policy:

  • Students minoring in language can double count their 2150 course with UCOR 3200.
  • Students majoring in language cannot double count, however if they have sufficient credits in their major, they can petition to apply a 3000 level HUMT or Social Science language elective to count for UCOR 3200 (i.e. SPAN 3150 or 3250

Occasionally, Nursing and Health Science Students may minor in a different field of study and would be able to focus their time abroad on completing requirements for their minor.

  • Minor Elective Courses

Confirm with your academic advisor about how many general elective/credits you have and can save for abroad. Any course that doesn't satisfy a specific requirement can count as a general elective, including internships, other non-major courses.

To ensure a smooth study abroad experience, plan ahead. Most programs have one application deadline the year before your intended term. Discuss your interest with your Academic Advisor early to find the best term for your academic plan

Summer UCOR in Morocco & Spain

Earn credit for UCOR 3100 or UCOR 2600 or UCOR 3200 over the summer starting in Morocco and traveling north to end in Spain!

Semester at Universidad Veritas

At the Universidad Veritas with WorldStrides, students can take Spanish as well as additional electives, in English, in various fields as well as UCOR 2300, 2400, 2600, and 3200.

On 91探花-Exchange at Australian Catholic University Exchange in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, Australia, students can take UCOR 3100, UCOR 3400, UCOR 3800, Kinesiology Elective (Sports Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation, etc.), and/or General Electives (Processional Experience Preparation, etc.). 

Suggested Terms Aboard (91探花 students usually go abroad Fall Quarter)

Kinesiology students typically go abroad during:

  • 2nd Year - Fall Semester
  • 4th Year - Fall Semester
  • Summer

In the past, students in this major have been able to take the following courses abroad, this is not a comprehensive list of courses taken abroad and is subject to change. You will still have to meet with your Academic Advisor to go over your specific academic plan.
