Emergency Financial Assistance

Emergency Dining Card Program

This program is designed for individuals facing acute, time-limited, and unforeseen insecurity in food resources. The program offers small subsidies of around $100 or $200 usable in our Chartwells dining facilities to help sustain a student for a short period of time.

Students with ongoing financial shortfalls may apply for the for temporary assistance. They should also seek support through our Food Support Initiatives, including the Wellness Café and Food Pantry program, SNAP benefits counseling, and referrals to local food banks.

The Pacific Northwest is home to an array of groups working to grow nutritious food, reduce hunger, and promote sustainability, including nonprofits, foundations, university centers, and more!  has developed a a list of .

  • Tilth is a great, broad resource with information on how to unite sustainability and food from gardening tips to cooking classes! Get involved and check with Tilth for more information.
  • CSA (community supported agriculture) connects community members to farmers with a curated box of fresh seasonal produce! Sign up for your own box with Tilth. 
  •  (Puget Consumers Co-op) is a local co-op dedicated to bringing delicious and local food to it's members! There are many locations around Seattle. Find the closest to you .
  • Food Action is an advocacy group with a big goal to reform our food system so that all people have access to GOOD FOOD, that is, food that is affordable, clean, healthy, delicious, and ecologically and socially regenerative. 
  •  is a grocery  specializing in natural foods, organic produce, sustainable meats, and local, Fair Trade, and non-GMO! And it's open until midnight everyday!
  •  are a great way to shop and support local farmers and Capitol Hill, right down the block, is one of three open all year round! A huge variety of veggies, bread, flowers, and more come from local farmers.
